Measured, not described
The shop is on the ground floor with a step-free entrance from the pavement, and there is a step-free route to the two tables nearest the door and to one of the three pedicure chairs.
The entrance is level from the pavement and the door is 34 inches clear. There is no step at the threshold.
The floor is flat throughout. The gap between the tables and the wall is 36 inches, which is enough for a wheelchair to pass but not to turn.
One of the three chairs has a removable footrest and can be worked at from a wheelchair; the other two cannot. Say so when you book and we will put you in that one.
There is one lavatory and the doorway is 28 inches. It is not step-free-accessible and we are not going to describe it as though it is.
The room is quiet by the standards of this trade — no television, and the extraction is the loudest thing in it. We can turn the music off. Ask.
There is room for a companion beside any table and beside the accessible chair.
The sixth table is in the corner behind the shelving and is out of the traffic. It is bookable by asking for it.
Because "wheelchair accessible" is a word that means eleven different things and none of them is a door width. A shop that gives you the measurement is a shop you can decide about from your own sofa, and one that does not is a shop you have to go and look at.
It is not accessible. The doorway is too narrow and there is no way to widen it in this building. We are not going to describe it as anything other than what it is.
Say what you need in the notes and it will be arranged before you get here: the accessible chair held, the corner table kept, the music off, a companion's chair beside you. None of it is a favour and none of it needs explaining.
Six tables · three pedicure chairs · a published price for everything
Pick the service and any add-ons and the calendar adds up the minutes before it looks for a slot, so the times you are offered are times that actually fit what you asked for. A pedicure also needs one of the three chairs, and if none is free at four o'clock on a Saturday it will say so rather than book you in and hope.
